Now in his eighteenth year of practice, Adam is proud to be an insolvency attorney and even more proud to have spent his entire career with Adelman & Gettleman, Ltd. Like all of the lawyers at his firm, Adam's area of expertise is helping individuals and companies resolve their business-related financial obligations. He regularly represents clients in out-of-court restructurings, such as workouts, forbearance arrangements, liquidations, and collection disputes, as well as in-court proceedings including liquidations and reorganizations under Chapters 7 and 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. The firm is widely recognized as one of the preeminent insolvency boutique firms in the City of Chicago and is typically engaged in highly complicated matters. As such, Adam has had the privilege of working on complex and challenging issues throughout his career and has honed his skills to find practical, cost-effective, and creative solutions to the myriads of problems his clients encounter.

Prior to attending law school, Adam graduated from the University of Illinois in 1993 after studying economics. From there, he earned his Master of Business Administration from DePaul University's Kellstadt Graduate School of Business in 1995. Concentrating in international business, Adam earned his MBA in just five academic quarters while working full-time. As part of his Master's thesis, Adam led a group of other MBA candidates through the conceptualization of a business, preparation of a formal business plan, and presentation to professional investors for hypothetical funding. At the conclusion of his presentation, Adam was approached by one of the investors who offered to actually finance Adam's project, but Adam declined, stating that law school was his ultimate goal.

Attending law school at Chicago Kent College of Law, Adam excelled in business courses and graduated with honors in 1998. During his studies, Adam was selected to be a judicial extern for the Honorable Joan B. Gottschall, U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of Illinois, giving him a unique perspective into the federal court system.

Adam joined Adelman & Gettleman as a first year associate in October of 1998 and was quickly elevated to partner in January 2004. In addition to practicing law with the firm, Adam has co-authored a chapter in the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education entitled "Representing the Secured Creditor and Adequate Protection" published in IICLE's Business Bankruptcy Practice handbook; guest lectured at the Chicago Bar Association and DePaul University; served a two year term as a member of the Bankruptcy Liaison Committee for the Northern District of Illinois; been named as "Rising Star" (2008, 2009, 2010) and "Superlawyer" (2012 - 2015) by his peers as part of the Illinois Superlawyers publication; and achieved a variety of other successes personally and on behalf of his clients.  He is also licensed to practice law in the State of Arizona.

Adam has been a resident of the South Loop in Chicago for the last 16 years and has served as the vice-president of his condominium association for the last 10 of them. Adam enjoys applying his business and legal experience to day-to-day issues facing a 100 year old building with almost 300 units and 10 full time employees. He lives with his long-time girlfriend, and together they enjoy travel and an active lifestyle.
