History

Now entering its third decade of practice, Adelman & Gettleman, Ltd. is a major player in Chicago. Founded in March, 1983, by Howard L. Adelman and Chad H. Gettleman, the firm is composed of a solid team of lawyers with over 100 years of collective expertise in the areas of bankruptcy, corporate law, reorganization, insolvency, and commercial litigation. In 1990, Henry B. Merens became a partner in the firm, followed by Brad A. Berish and Mark A. Carter in 1996, Adam P. Silverman in 2003 and Nathan Q. Rugg in 2009.

The firm is also renowned for its representation of debtors, creditors, creditor committees, and trustees in significant Chapter 11 cases. In addition to its multi state practice, its lawyers are also licensed to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. Three of its attorneys also earned licenses as Certified Public Accountants and a fourth attorney possesses a Master in Business Administration.
